My students love the new seats because they are fun, mobile, and comfortable. Students often need a change of pace or place at some point during the day. These floor chairs allow students to do that.\r\n\r\nAs you can see in the photos, some students use these to find a quieter space in which to focus on their work. Sometimes, the hustle and bustle of enthusiastic voices of others all the time can be very distracting. When students are able to move to a more secluded part of the classroom, their concentration increases as their distractions decrease. \r\n\r\nOther times, students want to work collaboratively through discussion. These floor seats allow students to gather in a small circle to share their thoughts and ideas. The tissues, band-aids, baby wipes, and headphones you provided have already made a big impact. Students have been working independently on reading comprehension, vocabulary, math fluency, online learning apps, etc, and the headphones have helped them focus without distractions. One student commented, \"Oh wow! Is this for me? It's my first-time using headphones. I can really concentrate now!\" It was such a joy to see their excitement when they received a pair of headphones with their name on it. \r\n\r\nThe other supplies have also been incredibly useful in our daily routines. During a couple recent messy art activities, baby wipes saved the day by making cleanup quick and easy. Some of my students were very uncomfortable when their hands were sticky from using oil pastels or when their hands are sticky from using glue sticks. The baby wipes help them feel at ease right away. \r\n\r\nIn addition, when my students fall or have ouchies, the band-aids are there to save the day! It makes such a huge difference what a strip of 1\"x 3\" can do to alleviate the pain. Students that are the Nurse Leaders take pride in being able to offer his/her peers some comfort. Having band-aids readily available means we could take care of small scrapes calmly and return to learning without delay. As we continue with our literacy, math, and science units, students will use their headphones to listen to fiction and nonfiction texts, make progress through iReady Math/Reading, gather new information from Discovery Education, make discoveries in Amplify Science, and increase reading skills on Learning A-Z/Epic!
