They love seeing a high score pop up and knowing their understanding is growing. These small successes have boosted motivation and turned reading into something they look forward to each day.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have shown especially strong progress with the help of the new books. One student who used to avoid reading now tells me, \"I want to get more AR points!\" He has moved up a reading level since these books arrived. Another student, who is still learning English, chooses picture-filled nonfiction books that help her connect new vocabulary to the world around her. She beams with pride when she passes her AR quizzes. A third student, who often finished work quickly, has discovered a new chapter book series in this set.
