The addition of weighted animal buddies, fidgets, and other sensory tools has transformed the way we help students regulate their emotions, reconnect with learning, and return to class ready to succeed.\r\n\r\nOur students use these tools throughout the day as part of their individualized regulation strategies. The weighted animal buddies have become a key part of our grounding routine—students settle into a quiet corner, choose a weighted companion, and take a few minutes to breathe, reset, and prepare for their next class. The fidgets and sensory items are used during check-ins, small-group sessions, and transition periods to help students manage stress and focus their attention.\r\n\r\nThese sensory supports have strengthened our ongoing work on self-regulation skills and emotional literacy. As we continue our unit on identifying stress signals and choosing healthy coping strategies, students are now able to practice with real tools that make those strategies effective. Our next step is helping students track which sensory items work best for them so they can build personalized \"toolkits\" they can use both in our suite and in their classrooms.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a true difference in the daily lives of our students. You didn't just provide materials—you gave our students comfort, confidence, and the tools they need to thrive.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our kids and in the work we do every day.","fullyFundedDate":1760659697595,"projectUrl":"project/student-support-suite/9828621/","projectTitle":"Student Support Suite","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3714912_orig.jpg?crop=3840,3840,x1017,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1606133610409","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/burr"},{"teacherId":1561255,"projectId":9856009,"letterContent":"First, Thank You soo much for your generous donation of much needed art supplies such as Sharpies, linoleum blocks, and embroidery floss. These items have transformed the creative possibilities in my middle school art classroom. With these materials, students suddenly had access to tools that encouraged experimentation, personal expression, and hands-on engagement. Many of my students had never used permanent markers for artistic purposes, carved their own block prints, or explored basic textile arts. These supplies opened the door to experiences they wouldn't otherwise have had.\r\nThe Sharpies immediately energized our drawing and design units. Students used them to practice line variation, create bold illustrations, and add vibrant details to mixed-media projects. The linoleum blocks allowed us to introduce printmaking—an art form that feels both exciting and empowering to young artists. Students practiced carving safely, planned their designs with intention, and were thrilled to see their images printed multiple times. The embroidery floss supported lessons in fiber arts, helping students develop patience, fine-motor skills, and a sense of craft as they stitched colorful creations such as stuffed monsters.\r\nMost importantly, these materials helped build confidence and joy in the art room. Students who are often hesitant became more willing to take creative risks because they had high-quality, inspiring tools to work with. Collaborative projects became more meaningful, and conversations about design, culture, and craftsmanship deepened. Your donation didn't just supply materials—it expanded what art could look like for my students and allowed them to create work they are genuinely proud of. The arrival of our new Manhasset music stands made an immediate and exciting impact in our classroom. When my students walked in and saw the sturdy, matching stands lined up and ready for them, their faces lit up. Many of them said it made them feel \"more like a real band,\" and that pride showed in how they sat up taller, focused more intently, and played with a level of confidence we hadn't seen before.\r\n\r\nWe are already using the stands every day to strengthen our music literacy. With clear visibility of their music and stable stands that don't wobble or slide, students are able to focus more on reading rhythms, following phrasing, and tracking their parts in ensemble music. One specific moment that stood out was during a sight-reading exercise—students were noticeably more engaged and successful at staying together because they were all able to see their music clearly and adjust quickly.\r\n\r\nWe are now preparing for our upcoming performance, and these stands are helping us rehearse with consistency and care. The students are learning how to listen to each other, watch the conductor, and take ownership of the music they are bringing to life. These stands have given us not just equipment, but confidence, structure, and a stronger musical foundation that will continue to grow throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and belief in my students. In an art classroom, where creativity and hands-on activities are at the core of daily instruction, the physical environment plays a major role in fostering engagement, focus, and confidence. Safe seating arrangements ensure that all students—regardless of ability, comfort needs, or behavioral differences—can fully participate in the creative process while minimizing distractions and safety risks.\r\n\r\nMiddle school students are at an age where physical and emotional development varies greatly. Some students may need extra space to move comfortably or to spread out their art materials, while others may require sturdy, stable seating to feel secure as they work with tools like scissors, clay, or paint. Having safe, age-appropriate, and well-maintained chairs and tables creates a foundation for learning where students can focus on their art instead of worrying about their physical comfort or safety. Broken, unstable, or mismatched furniture can lead to accidents, discomfort, or even anxiety, which can interfere with creativity and collaboration. By providing reliable seating, teachers can promote a sense of order and calm that allows students to concentrate and take creative risks without distraction.\r\n\r\nThe art classroom is often a sanctuary for middle school students—a place where they can express themselves freely and discover their voice through creative work. When the environment feels safe and thoughtfully designed, students are more likely to take creative risks, experiment with new techniques, and share their ideas openly. A stable seating setup communicates to students that their comfort, safety, and learning are valued. This message of care builds trust and enhances their overall engagement with the subject.\r\n\r\nUltimately, safe seating is not just about physical furniture—it's about creating the conditions for artistic growth and emotional security. By investing in safe and functional seating for the art room, we are investing in students' ability to learn, collaborate, and express themselves in meaningful ways. A well-equipped, safe classroom helps transform the art room into a true creative haven—one that supports curiosity, innovation, and confidence for every young artist who enters.","fullyFundedDate":1707046596771,"projectUrl":"project/safe-seating/7969306/","projectTitle":"Safe Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1561255_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1507070812685","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1561255"},{"teacherId":5261390,"projectId":9188892,"letterContent":"These flexible seating options have been absolutely amazing for my students. One student said, \"Now I don't have to borrow a pencil every day!\" It was a small but powerful reminder of how essential these supplies are to their learning experience.\r\n\r\nWe use these materials constantly.
