My students have been flourishing as readers over the past few months. To encourage the students to read more, I have started a classroom book club. Students voluntarily sign up to read an assigned book and chapter. We meet weekly as a Book Club, where students must complete a required reading and be ready to discuss the text. Their growing love of books is contagious and it is my job to continue feeding this flame. For students to see themselves as readers they must start to see themselves in the books they read. Booked is a text that many students will be able to relate to and make connections with the character. The structure of the text is like nothing else they have read and it will grab the attention of even the most reluctant reader.
