The small couch, bean bags, sensory mats, and sensory toys have already made a meaningful impact on our daily routine. These new additions give them a safe, calming place to reset before returning to learning.\r\nWhen the items arrived, my students were so excited to see a space created just for them. I have already seen students independently choose a bean bag or sensory tool when they begin to feel overwhelmed, calm their bodies, and then successfully transition back to reading or math. Many of my students have sensory sensitivities and are very selective eaters, which can make it difficult for them to stay regulated and focused during the school day. As a result, I've seen improved focus during reading groups, math centers, and structured learning time because students are no longer distracted by hunger.\r\nWhen the snacks first arrived, my students were excited and eager to explore the different options. For many of them, simply having access to preferred foods helped them feel safe and supported in our classroom.
