Students are identifying specific moments where a character's culture, family structure, or challenge mirrors their own.\r\n\r\nFor my students with diverse learning needs, the graphic novels and illustrated texts you funded are helping them decode complex emotions through facial expressions and artistic cues, bridging the gap between decoding words and understanding meaning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, reading time has transformed. If you walked into our classroom, you wouldn't see students just sitting silently at desks. You would see students scattered about the room, tracing the words with their fingers, completely absorbed in stories that feel relevant to their lives. The \"reading stamina\" in the room—the amount of time they can focus without a break—has noticeably increased since these boxes arrived.\r\n\r\nThe most beautiful moments have been seeing students who usually shy away from the library rush toward these books.\r\n\r\nThank you for not just giving us books, but for giving my students the gift of feeling seen, validated, and capable. The excitement was palpable as we unpacked the vibrant Astrobrights paper, the \"cool\" pink cordless glue gun, and the endless options of decorative scissors. For my students—who include both typical learners and those with additional needs—seeing brand-new, high-quality supplies dedicated just to them was a powerful moment. They immediately wanted to know when we could start creating.\r\n\r\nWe have already put these resources to work in our day-to-day activities and larger creative projects. In particular, the decorative scissors and bright paper are being used to create interactive notebook elements, allowing students to color-code and texture their notes, which helps with information retention.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are using the heavy-duty nano tape to display student work on our walls, turning our classroom into a gallery of learning. The batteries have breathed new life into our classroom technology, ensuring our timers and learning tools are powered up daily. We are looking forward to using these products throughout the entire school year. Knowing we have a stocked with creative materials gives my students the confidence to dream big for their upcoming projects. A specific project these materials, specifically the ice maker, allowed us to complete was a laboratory investigation about the effects of external temperatures on our core/body and hand temperatures. Students were not only able to complete the lab by using the ice to create a cold environment, they could also create multiple set-ups and investigate the effects of varying degrees of cold water environments. \r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see all the new classroom materials. Whether it be something we use regularly like post-its for silent group discussion boards and random reporter activities to the plants which offer a calming, more tranquil atmosphere to our classroom space.\r\n\r\nOne upcoming unit we will be studying is ecology and how living things interact with one another and their environment.
