My name is Joseph, and I am a physical education teacher from The Scholars' Academy, a small, magnet public school located in The Rockaways. Many of our staff and students are homeless in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. I am calling with a request of great urgency and desperation; our school community is in danger, and we need your help. Our school building on the Rockaway Peninsula is currently damaged and condemned. It is likely we will not be returning to the building for the foreseeable future. Our extremely bright, devoted and motivated students might not be able to return to our school to finish the school year with their close friends and the teachers that love them.
