These resources are helping make emotional regulation feel accessible, positive, and safe.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I will continue teaching students how to recognize when they need a break and choose strategies that help them feel ready to return to the classroom. We have been using the materials to read stories, practice sequencing and retelling events, answer questions, learn new vocabulary, and create artwork connected to the stories. My students were especially excited to see the new materials and loved having the opportunity to choose books and bring the stories to life through art.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite activities has been reading a story together and then creating our own illustrations of the characters and events. Students are practicing important language skills while also having fun and expressing their creativity. Our next step is to continue building on these skills by having students retell stories independently and eventually create and share their own stories. The WH question cards, verb cards, and story sequencing cards immediately grabbed their attention because they are colorful, interactive, and easy for students to relate to. Even the basic classroom supplies, like the pencil sharpener and stapler, helped our room feel more organized and ready for learning. The mouth model has also been incredibly helpful for teaching speech sounds because students can visually see where to place their tongue and lips during articulation practice.\r\n\r\nWe have already been using the materials daily during speech and language sessions. One of my favorite moments was watching a student use the story sequencing cards to retell a short story independently for the first time. Another student became much more confident answering WH questions during a game activity using the new cards. \r\n\r\nThese resources are continuing to support our current classroom goals in speech and language development. Our next steps are helping students carry over these skills into conversations, classroom participation, and storytelling activities. We will continue building vocabulary, comprehension, articulation, and sequencing skills through interactive lessons and play-based learning. Because of your generosity, my students have access to engaging materials that make learning exciting and help them grow more confident every day.
