With the binder paper and pencils, students are able to write down notes that they can refer back to before exams/quizzes. In addition, students have practiced their skills of creating phylogenetic trees and cladograms. Lastly, students have used the pencils as a tool to draw extinct organisms on posters. \r\n\r\nThe binders are handy, as some students cannot afford binders and notebook paper, so it's nice to be able to give them to students to help them keep their notes organized. \r\n\r\nThe cell phone locker safely stores student phones and I can easily take all phones with me in the event of a natural disaster. Without their phones, students are more focused in class and engage in meaningful dialogue. I see a lot more student participation. It gives me peace of mind knowing that the phones are cushioned and can be locked up. \r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you!!!! All these supplies help my students learn and reinforces the idea that all students deserve a good education.","fullyFundedDate":1725887899451,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-supplies-for-underprivileged-s/8539725/","projectTitle":"Classroom Supplies for Underprivileged Students in San Diego","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pfeifer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619781"},{"teacherId":9619781,"projectId":9984997,"letterContent":"We cannot thank you enough for your donation of an ice machine and test tube rack. We use the ice machine several times throughout the year for our numerous labs. Now, we no longer are limited to how much ice we can make. Before, we would have to fill an ice cube tray with water and find available freezer space somewhere on campus and then wait hours for the ice to be ready; this required lots of prepping ahead of time. We also were limited by the freezer trays and space available in the freezer. Now, we can make ice within minutes without leaving our classroom. \r\n\r\nStudents were very excited and cheered, \"Hooray, no more running around campus looking for available freezer space!!!\" They loved the sleek design of the ice machine but were mostly excited for the convenience of now having ice within minutes. In the past students wanted to manipulate temperature as a variable for some labs, but we weren't able to because it required prepping in advance. Now we no longer have to prep ice in advance. Students also have the option of large or small ice cubes, which come in handy. For enzyme labs or DNA labs where we need to ice the substrates or anneal the DNA strands, we can take the ice and crush it with a hammer. The cubes generated by the machine are easier to crush up. Students also experienced how layers of fat (adipose tissue) can insulate the body and block out the cold. In the picture attached, one my students is sticking her hand in icy cold water while wearing a crisco in insulating layer. Doing hands on labs reinforce concepts and give students tangible examples to connect the difficult concepts to. \r\n\r\nI look forward to getting many uses of the ice machine for the many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1774625986829,"projectUrl":"project/icy-experiments-and-labs-for-underprivil/9984997/","projectTitle":"Icy Experiments and Labs for underprivileged students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pfeifer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619781"},{"teacherId":10213091,"projectId":9640231,"letterContent":"Before we started our new novel, we played vocabulary bingo to learn terms frequently used in the novel. Then we completed an anticipatory guide with themes from the novel in which my students decided if they agreed, disagreed or felt neutral about those themes.\r\n\r\nBy then, my students were really excited to start actually reading the book. We've been listening to the audiobook which is read by the author. We stop the audio every so often to discuss what's happening and answer any questions my students have so they can better understand the story.\r\n\r\nAlthough we've only read through chapter 1, my students are enjoying this book and look forward to listening to a little bit every day I see them.","fullyFundedDate":1756260473473,"projectUrl":"project/get-my-teenagers-reading/9640231/","projectTitle":"Get My Teenagers Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10213091"},{"teacherId":6731345,"projectId":9731433,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations. We are sharing the supplies between 4 classrooms with Special Education Study Skills classes in them. The teachers were so excited to get supplies that they desperately needed.\r\nThe kids are excited to have more spots to charge their phones, and their computers, but mostly their phones. Almost every class requires students to use their laptops, but many of them only have a few places to charge anything. Some students even come by the rooms at lunch time or during a break because they know there will always be plugs they can use.\r\nThe tissues are so nice to have access to. Many of our meetings are emotional with parents, and it's great to have access to the soft tissues, not those sandpaper tissues that the district provides. The kids love them too. Still so many kids are sent to school when they are sick, so having easy access to soft tissues is very helpful. \r\nLastly, the paper towels are amazing. With all of the sick kids coming in, its nice to have paper towels to clean the desks after every class.\r\nThank you so much for your kindness!","fullyFundedDate":1758678897045,"projectUrl":"project/basic-supplies-for-teenagers-to-make-it/9731433/","projectTitle":"Basic Supplies for Teenagers to Make It Through the Day","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. K.
