My students are currently using the new materials to design and create their own personalized hats while exploring early engineering. They are learning how to plan a design, make thoughtful choices, and follow steps to complete a project from beginning to end.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in my classroom was immediate and contagious. My students could not wait to explore everything that was included. They were especially drawn to the variety of colorful patches. Some students were excited to choose sports themed designs like soccer balls and baseballs, while others were drawn to fun and playful options like robots, strawberries, and pineapples. As they selected their patches, they began sharing ideas with one another, talking about their designs, and explaining why they chose certain items.\r\n\r\n They are developing an early understanding of how heat and pressure work together when using the hat press to apply the patches. Through their efforts, we were able to prepare 60 autism support bags for Children's Advocacy Center.
