Having access to graphic novels has helped some of my reluctant readers pick up something new, since these books are full of colorful illustrations.\r\n\r\nWe have used graphic novels to discuss how most of the reading is dialogue between characters. This, in turn, has helped us add dialogue to our narratives that we write during our writing block. \r\n\r\nSome of the graphic novels donated to our classrooms also have chapter-book counterparts, and some of my students have moved on to reading those books as well!
