These virtual escape rooms will make a huge difference in the lives of my gifted students. Why? One word- ENGAGEMENT! Gifted students get bored with mundane tasks of everyday school. When they come to GATE class, they are looking for an escape from those daily tasks. They need to be challenged in several ways in order to nurture and develop their natural gifts and talents.
Not only do they need to nurture their natural gifts and talents, they need to be excited about coming to school! I know if I could offer them a wonderfully crafted virtual escape room several times per month, their engagement in virtual learning would grow dramatically!
I want them to be engaged in school, but I also want them solving puzzles, riddles, patterns, codes and clues in order to give their highly capable brains a challenge. I want them to feel success when they solve an intense puzzle or do something they never thought they could. I want them to learn to persevere and do great things!
