The couch was the perfect place for us to read our books on emotions together.This area also helps students that need a space to calm or reset throughout the day. I enjoy using the area to work one on one with my students. It also gives them a break from traditional seating during challenging times. We also plan to use the light box to complete math problems to help encourage motivation and excitement for math. During sensory time within the classroom we plan to use the light box to explore different items while helping students engage visually with the items. The excitement and energy during this activity have been incredible to see!\r\n\r\nWe are already noticing students becoming quicker at recognizing words and more eager to participate in reading activities. Your generosity in funding the Strawbees STEAM kit has made a huge difference in my classroom and with our after school students. It's truly helped us transform abstract concepts into hands-on, engaging experiences. My students and I are using the Strawbees kit to explore the fundamentals of engineering, design, and physics. Our first project was using Strawbees to construct 3D shapes and identify characteristics of each shape with my afterschool students. \r\n\r\nWhen the boxes of Strawbees first arrived, the initial reaction was a mixture of curiosity and slight confusion. The students were used to traditional building blocks, not flexible straws and brightly colored connectors. This kit is allowing my students to move beyond traditional learning and instead become active creators and innovators.
