We are so grateful for your kind donation that allowed us to have these resources in our classroom. The students were very excited to have the word work materials! We do UFLI on a daily basis as our phonics program and when they saw how the word work mat that they see on the big screen is the same that they had in front of them, they were thrilled! The joy they had to physically manipulate the letters/sound patterns to create words really had the learning come to life. The mats are organized in a way where we can easily switch from one mat to another. One example is the word work mat that had designated squares to help students organize their magnet tiles. I help guide them through using the sound boxes to help spell out words with our spelling pattern of the week. Then for small groups, we can switch to the word ladders where they can manipulate one-two sounds to create new words. This is especially helpful for emerging readers and spellers. The rhyming/patterned words help them feel success in reading and spelling the words.\r\n\r\nThe plastic sleeves are used when we do our Toothy activity. It is an activity where they answer the question correctly, they get to fill in a tooth for their character. It is a fun and interactive way to quiz students on the week's grammar/spelling/math concept to gauge their understanding. \r\n\r\nWe are excited to create books with the binding machine. We are currently working on personal narrative writing. As soon as they finish their drafts, I plan on having them publish their writing to create books for their peers to enjoy. This is a way for them to truly take ownership and pride in their writing.","fullyFundedDate":1771016853380,"projectUrl":"project/bound-for-success/10058886/","projectTitle":"Bound for Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Atienza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1271778_orig.png?crop=272,272,x42,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1557336821546","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msprofeta"},{"teacherId":2768725,"projectId":10143684,"letterContent":"This is not the first time we have had the honor of thanking your family for the donations. \r\n\r\nRoom 403 will never be the same because of the wonderful contributions made to our students. \r\n\r\nOur students are eager to speak and share ideas in front of one another. Our school library doesn't have as many graphic novel titles, so this was an extra special treat.\r\n\r\nEspecially for my reluctant readers, dyslexic students, and students learning English, graphic novels fill a very special place in choice reading. The illustrations help support their comprehension and bring joy to reading. Using a 3D printed catapult, students worked collaboratively to assemble the device, learning how individual components function together as a system. They then applied this understanding to design and create their own tabletop games, which required them to think critically about rules, objectives, and user experience. Throughout the process, students strengthened skills in teamwork, perseverance, and innovation while making connections to real-world applications of science and design. This project not only increased student engagement, but also built confidence as they saw their ideas come to life. Most students are now very excited on how 3D printers can be use to increase their understanding of science concepts and how 3D printed items are changing many fields in science. The 3D printer will become a tool that will motivate, increase understanding of concepts and inspire students on how innovation changes their world. The 3D printer has made a meaningful difference in our classroom by helping students connect their effort, creativity, and learning to something they can actually see and hold. While many people may think of 3D printing as just making objects, in school it has become a tool for motivation, problem-solving, and celebrating student growth. Students are not only excited by the finished products, but also by the process of planning, improving, and seeing their ideas come to life.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for students is the opportunity to turn their progress into something visible. Whether they are creating useful tools, puzzles, or small toys, the 3D printer helps make their hard work feel real and rewarding. It has become a strong incentive for students to stay focused, keep trying, and take pride in their accomplishments. It is so organized and ready to use, the case is packed with grapheme magnets color-coded into categories—from vowels and consonants to digraphs that have made making words during our UFLY lessons so much more engaging. The write & wipe workspace where kids can build, sound out and write words, has been great practice for my students in separating their sounds in order to sound them out correctly, then write them correctly. I love how the white board area is first broken into Elkonin boxes (or sound boxes) that provide a visual tool for teaching spelling by segmenting words into individual sounds (phonemes). The students place their sound tiles on them to map sounds, helping them link spoken sounds to written letters, improving phonemic awareness, spelling, and decoding. Under each box is a touch dot for the kids to touch to help the kids point and sound each word. Then there is a writing line to write the word down. The kids are really learning the sounds well with these kits!\r\n\r\nThese kits have really helped us in developing skills in knowing and applying grade-level phonics and word analysis aptitude in decoding words, knowing spelling-sound correspondences for additional common vowel teams, demonstrating knowledge of letter-sound correspondences, associating long and short vowel sounds with common spellings, and knowing final -e and common vowel team conventions for representing long vowel sounds.","fullyFundedDate":1769182942455,"projectUrl":"project/lets-develop-our-phonics-and-word-analy/9989252/","projectTitle":"Let's Develop Our Phonics and Word Analysis Skills!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6641854_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1572050345085","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6641854"},{"teacherId":8041630,"projectId":9991624,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom.
