It's been truly amazing to see how much these materials have made a difference. The students were so excited when the packages arrived, and they were thrilled to open them each time. Their enthusiasm really showed how much these resources mean to them.\r\n\r\nWhat's especially inspiring is seeing students experience joy, pride, curiosity, and teamwork in ways that aren't always possible in their core content classes like reading (ELA) and math. Many of my students have been more likely to avoid reading or learning because it's often felt hard or discouraging. Watching them happily participate, work together, solve problems, and even show joyful competition during games and activities has been a powerful and emotional change in our classroom. \r\n\r\nThese tools are helping students build confidence, stay focused, and have positive feelings about learning independently and with their peers. Next goals will be to keep practicing the games and using the learning materials whenever we can to help them grow their enthusiasm and stamina. Thank you for helping create an environment where students feel successful, connected, and excited to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1778635208612,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-tools-for-middle-school-reade/10248823/","projectTitle":"Empowering Tools for Middle School Readers with Dyslexia","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gibbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3951956_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619627950382","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3951956"},{"teacherId":2374092,"projectId":9871944,"letterContent":"I am incredibly grateful for your generous donation and for your support of my Literacy Lab. In our classroom, the donated computer has become something much more powerful: a gateway to hands-on scientific discovery through Gizmo simulations. Instead of only reading about concepts like chemical reactions, force and motion, or ecosystems, students can now manipulate variables, test hypotheses, and instantly see the results of their thinking in action. They are not just memorizing vocabulary — they are experimenting, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions just like real scientists.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is the control and interactivity. With Gizmo simulations, they can change one variable at a time and immediately observe what happens. If they make a mistake, they can reset and try again without fear of \"ruining\" an experiment. That freedom builds confidence. Students who are usually hesitant to participate during traditional labs are suddenly willing to explore, predict outcomes, and defend their reasoning. The computer has allowed science to feel safe, engaging, and dynamic.\r\n\r\nThis technology has been especially meaningful for students who struggle with abstract thinking or reading-heavy instruction. Visual learners benefit from seeing models come to life. English learners can interact with simulations in ways that reduce language barriers. Students who sometimes disengage during lectures are now leaning forward, fully focused, eager to test \"what if\" questions. One student who rarely spoke up during lessons now regularly volunteers to demonstrate simulations for classmates. Another who previously doubted their ability in science proudly shared their improved quiz scores after practicing with Gizmos.\r\n\r\nBecause of this donation, science is no longer just something students hear about — it is something they experience. Your generosity has given our students access to deeper understanding, greater confidence, and the excitement of real scientific exploration.","fullyFundedDate":1764605899831,"projectUrl":"project/one-computer-countless-discoveries/9867207/","projectTitle":"One Computer, Countless Discoveries!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2654004_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1471584020417","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-fernandez13"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7673","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1119,"numTeachers":60,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":63,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.0,"schoolId":7673,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Robert E Peary Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Robert E Peary Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/robert-e-peary-middle-school/7673"}
