We teach patterns and use color to identify patterns. It is extremely difficult for the children to identify the colors in a picture that is printed in black and white. \r\n\r\nWe also used the color ink to print color photos, for workshop games and activities, for unit emergent readers, and for photos that are included in their - journal covers, pages, and pictures. The kids wrote stories and drew color pictures. We loved our Toy Story Day! \r\nWhen the items arrived to our class in an AMAZON box, the kiddos were so excited to open it up and see what was inside. It was like Christmas. \r\n\r\nOn this TOY STORY DAY, the kids were able to show kindness to others through playing games with one another.\r\n\r\nThe kids had the opportunity to participate in learning activities and games, that helped them increase their abilities to make friends and expand their social skills. \r\nWe have students in our class will all kinds of abilities and are \"differently-abled\" not disabled. We also have students of different races and cultures. learning how to celebrate each others abilities and embrace their unique qualities helps us to all become better people. Having an Apple - Magic Trackpad has enabled both myself and the students to present the material at any location in the classroom instead of having to go to the front of the room and physically touching the Smartboard to present the material. It is fun learning how to work this new technology in a new and fun way. The students think it is cool to be able to use this new device.\r\n\r\nHaving the automatic pencil sharpeners at a boys and a girls station has helped expedite the time that students are spending sharpening their pencils and getting back to writing their masterpieces. \r\n\r\nLastly, the dividers have helped give my students privacy when testing and completing their assignments, drawing, or writing. They have to be quiet and calm and follow my instructions and then the fun begins.\r\nSometimes we use music and other times they have to follow instructions for a specific color on the parachute.\r\nDefinitely a favorite from kindergarten up to 5th grade!! This is an outdoor activity so that's a plus!! The kids lovee to be outside!\r\nWe are working on some choreographed movements along with music. They also LOVE to play shark attack at the end of class. My students have been so thankful to be able to use our community supplies that you have donated. We use the dry erase markers everyday, all day. We use dry erase for math practice, and whenever students are given the choice they always choose to use the dry erase markers.\r\n\r\nWe have also loved having highlighters to annotate our reading curriculum. The highlighters have helped my students understand how to pull out key details and information from text. We still have tissues to help get us through the school year and that would not have been the case without this donation. \r\n\r\nLast, my students were so excited to see the black drawstring bags at the beginning of the year. They were even more excited to hear they were there to help them keep their headphones safe and organized. They can't wait to take the bags home at the end of the year. These supplies my not seem critical, but I want you to know my students often bring up how much they love being able to grab dry erase markers and other supplies from my cart when ever they need them. Don't just take my word for it, my kiddos said that all day long! \r\nWhen the kiddos arrived and entered the classroom, there were Disney themed posters and decorations all over the room!\r\nWe had this amazing day to celebrate all of their hard work in reading, writing, social skills, communication, friendship, leadership, and more. \r\nWhen all of the boxes arrived, the kids were so excited! \r\nOn the day of the event, each student received a Mickey/Minnie Mouse headband to wear throughout the day!\r\nThe students were about to work together in teams and follow directions, read directions, and learn how to build and assemble the various lego sets. They had an absolute blast. I was able to recognize several students who are very quiet and reserved and they were able to shine while participating in these activities. \r\nThe kds were so excited to receive a PEZ Disney candy! We began this day by watching The Macy's Parade and the new balloons that would be in the parade this year. Balloons Over Broadway.\" This gave them some insight on how the parade began and the back story to the parade. \r\nWhen the students walked into the room the morning that we began our project, the balloons were blown up, on a stick, and ready for their design to be put on them. They were so excited to get started.\r\nMy kiddos were so appreciative of your support in contributing to this project. When their designs were complete, we initially were going to parade to the other first grade classes, but in in the end, we ended up parading to each and every classroom in our school. We had so many, \"oooooo's and awwwww's.\" It was amazing. Giving the kiddos to create designs that celebrate their own uniquenesses and ethnicities or cultures helped my students to feel included and special.
