  • Get Your Glow On!

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

Today was a great day. My students have been working so hard in class and they had earned a great fun day. Of course, we still did our work, we just added a little bit of glow to the day. The students dressed in neon and white clothes to help the effect of the day be even better. The card stock was used for a skeleton painting project that we did today. The students colored in bones of the skeleton with a white crayon. After they had finished coloring the bones, they got out their water color paints and painted over the skeleton. The paint did not absorb in the bones because of the wax of the crayon. It was a fun activity and a little science too. It went right along with the Halloween theme we are creating in our classroom. We used the glow in the dark dice to play and greater than or less than game. The students had a partner and played a game rolling the dice and seeing who had the greater number or less than number. We used the glow in the dark ball to practice rhyming words. Our class has been struggling to identify rhyming words, so we sat in a circle and rolled the ball around having people rhyme a word that I gave the group. We had some fun brain breaks through the day, when the students could dance and get their wiggles out. We also had a relaxing time when the students layed down on the floor and just relaxed their bodies. It was an amazing day and your donations made it happen. Thank you so much for all the donations. I know the students appreciate it so much and so do I.”

  • Kinder Kreative

    Funded May 25, 2023

My class is going to be so excited to work on their Rainbow Writing Book and to create their Alphabet Animal Book throughout this school year. I was so grateful to receive the donations, so my class could keep working on their writing skills. We are about to start school in one week and begin their first experience in full time kindergarten. We will be working on how to write the alphabet correctly and then they will be able to use what they have learned to begin working on their alphabet animal book. The alphabet animal book allows them to draw the animal, write about the animal, and then color the alphabet animal on the back. By the end of the year, the class will have completed both books and will be able to take them home to share with their parents. The kids love to have their own books. The laminating sheets and card stock were helpful in creating the books and other things around the room. The laminating sheets were great to make our sign and frogs for back to school night themed wall. I am excited to welcome a new set of students into my classroom and begin teaching them about writing. I hope they are excited as I am. Thanks for making this possible for my students this year.”

  • Kindergarten Camping

    Funded May 6, 2023

We had an amazing day in our campsites. We read and created a camp book, wrote about how to make s'mores and have enjoyed eating them too. We started the day finding the best place each student would like to spend the day. They stayed close the the camp fire to stay warm. During our reading time we read "Froggy Goes to Camp", the students enjoyed that a lot and laughed a lot too. We also practiced writing how to make s'mores and then ate some s'more as we watched and short video.

The afternoon was just as fun as we worked on s'more number bonds and played a game with our white boards. The students have been working on addition and subtraction number bonds. They had to find the missing number on the s'more number bond to complete the equation. We always do a few problems together and then the students have to work individually on their work.

It has been an amazingly fun day! I think each student had a great day and we are going to continue this tomorrow for the last day of school. I am also excited to keep this tradition a live for each of my classes each year.

Thank you so much for your donations. It is hard for a teacher to get all the supplies they would like to help their students learn in a fun environment. With your donations it makes it a little easier. Thank you so much again for all your help.”

  • How Do Bats Live?

    Funded Mar 21, 2023

Today was such a great day. The student started out the morning being told that our classroom had been invaded by bats over the weekend and that we needed to stay quiet because they were sleeping. The students were super excited to enter the classroom. Each student received a flashlight that they could use to light up the worksheets we were working on throughout the day. We begun the day listening and watching a video about bat facts and what makes them special. We learned that bats sleep upside down, they use echolocation to fly, they eat bugs and fruit, they like to live in caves and trees, and their babies are called pups. The students had a great day working in the dark all day long. We also worked on our regular curriculum (reading and writing). They read and colored a bat book to take home. The students did a great job on keeping the bats a sleep through the whole day. We even had a fire drill and pretended we were bats escaping out of the cave. We will continue learning about bats tomorrow and the students will get a chance to write about what they have learned the last few days.

This would not have been possible without your donation. I appreciate your willingness to donate to this project and I know that my student appreciate it too. It was a fun, hands on learning experience, I don't think they will forget.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lindsay

  • We Made It, 100 Days!

    Funded Mar 12, 2023

The students and I were so excited to receive the items on this project. The week we received the books, we were learning about bugs specifically ants. They loved reading "One Hundred Hungry Ants" with me. The book went along with the the Reading and Writing curriculum great. The student were able to read along with me during some fo the parts of the book. It was a great hit in class.

We were able to do a science project with the skittles in which they made a pattern around a plate and then added water. The student got to observe what was happening to the skittles and draw what they were observing on their observation paper . We also use the skittles to practice counting in math and working on patterns. Of course, they are always wanted to eat the skittles they are using individually.

Our class discussed how wonderful it is to have projects get funded in our classroom and they were so happy to create thank you cards for the people that donated to this project. Each student was able to work on two thank you cards. We will be using the other items in the classroom as the school year continues. I know that they students are excited for that as am I.”

  • Holiday Reading!

    Funded Oct 6, 2022

The students enjoyed this book, "Oh, No!" They received it for Christmas, so they can include it in their own home library. They were very excited to share it with their family. The story has become a favorite of mine, and I am grateful that I can share with them. Even today, I had a students come up to me and thank me for the book. It makes me really happy to have the student learn the love of reading.

The ornaments were also very fun to make for their parents. In class, we measured how tall they were and they were able to finish the ornament by putting the ribbon inside, attaching the tag, adding their picture, and writing their name. The students finished the project by decorating a bag for their wrapping paper. They were excited and happy to take the present home to give to their parents.

The holiday erasers have been used during center time for manipulatives. The students can use them for counting, addition, and subtraction. Using the manipulatives makes the activity more exciting and the students have a better understanding of the concepts when they can see what is happening during an activity.

The project really helped the class during the holiday. It gave the students a new book, an ornament to make for their parents, and manipulatives to use during math activities. Thank you so much for your donations and your support. There are many things that my class would not be able to do with your donations.”

  • Learning is Fun!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for helping with the funding of my Donors Choose Project to help motivate my students with fun little treasures they can collect. The students work hard to earn tickets in the class by working hard, doing their work quietly, helping others around the room, and improving their writing, math, and reading skills. They can turn in 10 tickets to get something out of the treasure box. The carnival toys, and animal erasers have been exciting for the students to earn. When we have the special day when they can turn in their tickets, the students are so excited to count out their tickets. Counting the tickets help them with the math skills and then they are super excited to choose out of the treasure box. It is always an exciting end of the day when we do that.

The gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers has helped me plan and create learning activities that the class uses during center time. The activities help the student practice lessons they have learned earlier in the day. Teacher Pays Teachers helps me as a teacher to have fun and exciting activities that will motivate and help the students enjoy learning in the classroom. Right now the students have been working on subtraction in the class, and I have used Teachers Pay Teachers to download a snowman activity with ten frames that help the students understand the process when we subtract items.

I am so thankful and grateful for Donors Choose and the people that donate to my projects. I means a lot to my class and myself. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Book Adventure!

    Funded Jun 19, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my project and making it become a reality. As a whole class we are using the Simple Magin Foam Place Value Blocks when counting the number of days we have attended school. The blocks make a great visual manipulative that the students can understand. We have used the ones and the tens blocks and the students are loving it. The plastic protector sheets are being used in the morning binders. Each student has a morning binder with sheet protectors and the alphabet pages, name page, and number pages. They work on writing each morning with a dry erase marker. They really like doing that and are excited to practice their writing skills. The measuring buckets have not been used yet because we have not scheduled our measuring unit in math. I am excited to plan that lesson because I can't wait to let the students measure and weight objects in small group time. The animal erasers have been a big hit and they are a great incentive and reward for the students. They can collect different erasers by staying on task, doing good work, and listening to the teacher. This helps with classroom management through the day and it is working great. The kindergarten certificates will be used at the end of the year. I love finishing up each student's project binder with a certificate. These binders are filled with projects and activities we have done throughout the year. They are always a great project to show what we have done throughout kindergarten. All of these items that I was able to get through this project or loved and appreciated by my students and myself. Thank you so much for the donations. Our class looks forward to using the measuring buckets and the foam place value blocks as the year continues. Right now, our class is working on building their number and alphabet understanding with songs and rhymes. Kindergarten is fun every day, you never know what will happen, but we have fun as much as we can. Thank you again for helping our days be filled with items that make it fun and exciting.”

  • Motivating Materials

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations to my project. The items were greatly appreciated by myself and my students. There were three students that needed to use the headphones for the iPad activities because their previous headphones stopped working. It was nice that the headphones were available for them to use. It helps those students stay focused on their work and not disturb others around them. The dry erase markers were used when the class worked with small whiteboards for math and writing. At the end of the school year, the student were writing sentences on the whiteboard using the markers, it was easy for them to erase the boards or correct the sentence if needed. The biggest excitement the students had were the geoboard sets. The students love working with rubber bands creating shapes and other pictures using the geoboards. It was always a great center activity during the day. It also helped with fine motor skills and the ability to get the rubber bands around the small pegs. The spiral notebooks and stickers were used and will be used for this coming year. They are bother used for motivation to do great work and to work hard during class. The students loved counting how many stickers they received and showing each other the different stickers they had collected. The magnetic drawing boards will be used at the beginning of the year when students are beginning to write the alphabet, their name, and numbers. It gives them a fun way to practicing their writing skills in a fun way.

All of these items are and will be helpful in creating a fun learning environment for my students. I want to give them the most hands on activities possible that are fun and inviting. These items will allow my classroom to become that environment. Thank you again for all that you do and for your donations. I am excited for the coming year and the new students that will be able to use these items to learn and have fun.”

  • Creative Reading and Writing

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations for our classroom project. The headphones have been a great addition to the classroom, especially for the students that needed headphones when our class gets onto the I pads for Istation and Imagine Math programs. The headphones have also helped when students headphones have broken and we have additional headphones for the students. It is so nice to have a few extra headphones, so I can grab them quickly for the students.

The playdough stamps and playdough have created a great center to help the students build words while they are having fun with their hands. We have also used the playdough when working in math centers to help the students practice addition, subtraction and making shapes. Right now, the class is working on 2-D and 3-D shapes, and they love making the shapes with marshmallows, toothpicks, playdough, straws, and popsicle sticks. The students always love to work with playdough.

The student love to use the Wobble Cushions when they get the chance to sit freely around the room when reading their books or working on their I pads. They are also a great sensory tool for some of my students because of the texture on the cushions.

The students enjoy getting out of their desk and moving to a new place in the room to read quietly or during I pad time. The students seem to work better when they get to choose a new place to sit quietly. The students have enjoyed all of the new items in the classroom and they have all been put to great use. Thank you again for all of the donations, I couldn't do it without you.”

The DexBoard Magnetic Easel will help the students by allowing the class to use our Big Books properly and make them visible for all students. It allows my class to see the large books and for me, the teacher, to be hands free to point out important information in the book. It has wheels, which make it very easy to move around the room and use during any part of the day. The Easel will also be used for brainstorming ideas about projects the students are learning about. The large paper can be taken off the easel and placed on a wall for future review. My students will enjoy listening to the books we have requested as they learn about caring for the environment and the life cycle of a butterfly. The daily schedule pocket chart and Twenty Seven countdown timer will help the students understand and be aware of the daily schedule. The pocket chart will help students that need extra preparation for changing activities to know what is coming next. The timer will help students learn time and begin to understand how much time is left when given an example like, "We have five minutes until recess." This will also help students that need extra time to prepare for a new activity. The Swingline Paper Cutter will be used to cut all the books that the students will be reading and for any projects that will be done in class. The students have many books that are used for learning letters and numbers. These books need to be cut and stapled for all the students. Having a paper cutter in class would help me spend less time cutting and more time planning appropriate activities for my students.
