At the beginning of this academic year, I found myself feeling frustrated and discouraged as I struggled to meet my students' needs without the necessary resources. When my school district was unable to provide even basic supplies like toner, I turned to DonorsChoose. Your support made a lasting impact, allowing me to better serve my students in ways that would not have been possible otherwise.\r\n\r\nAmong the things that have directly impacted my students have been printer toner cartridges I received. The printer toner alone has allowed me to print transcripts, work permits, resumes, scholarship applications, and recommendation letters—critical tools for my students' academic and career journeys. With our main office relocated due to construction, access to shared equipment became limited, making it challenging to do daily tasks. So having a reliable printer in my own office has truly been a blessing. \r\n\r\nIn addition, the snacks, binders, and mobile standing desk you provided have transformed both my counseling space and my after-school college preparatory class. This year a colleague, and I were asked to teach a college preparatory class called One Goal 101. Being an after school class session, students stay engaged with snacks during long days. The binders you donated will keep their important materials organized over the next two years of their One Goal journey. \r\n\r\nAs for the mobile standing desk, it has been put to good use. I use it during school events such as Open House to move around while checking in with parents. I also use it when meeting with students for quick check-ins with students in the hallways. When my desk is not being used in the hallways, it becomes a sitting desk for my students when they come in for support. From supporting students with financial aid applications, creating college admission accounts, or scholarship support, students find themselves using the mobile desk.\r\n\r\nI find great joy in seeing my students, with your generosity, have a space where they feel safe, supported, and valued. Whether they are grabbing a snack, organizing their goals, or sitting down to talk about their future, they know they are in a place that cares for them. That sense of belonging is invaluable, and it is something I could not have built without your kindness. With the funding you provided, it was possible for students to not only build their own ecosystems, but also to monitor its quality for living things over several months! Students planted seeds and were able to compare the success of their plants relative to soil productivity and health. Students also filtered water into an aquatic chamber, where they grew fish, which depend upon water quality.
