We are using them during math lessons, small-group instruction, and independent practice to make learning more hands-on and engaging. Having these resources available has given my students more opportunities to work together, explain their thinking, and use manipulatives to make sense of challenging math concepts. It has been especially fun to see students who may normally be hesitant during math become more willing to participate when they can physically work with the materials.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were immediately curious and excited to see what was inside. They loved being able to explore the new resources and quickly started coming up with ways they could use them during math. As we continue through the school year, we will keep using these materials during our daily math lessons and small-group intervention. My goal is for students to build confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and see that math can be something they enjoy and feel successful doing. This has impacted my students in multiple ways. First, they have gotten to see first hand how choosing to help others can be impactful. My students were surprised that people they didn't know would choose to help THEM. That was a wonderful way to help them understand the true meaning of generosity, philanthropy, and kindness. \r\n\r\nWith these wonderful new additions to our classroom, it has greatly impacted the day to day flow of first grade energy. Students may choose whether or not they want to use one that day, that subject, etc. Not only has it helped students get their wiggles out, but it also has helped them practice making choices about what's best for them/ their learning. This sentiment also extends to the noise cancelling headphones we have received. Students with and without disabilities have been more comfortable in loud settings, such as an assembly or fire drill. \r\n\r\nBoth my students and myself have felt appreciative each day knowing that there are people willing to support students as they grow. It's hard being a first grader. Wiggle cushions and noise cancelling headphones make it a bit easier.","fullyFundedDate":1764695113554,"projectUrl":"project/helping-the-twists-shouts-one-support/9882315/","projectTitle":"Helping the Twists & Shouts: One Support at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whittington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10345537_orig.png?crop=1088,1088,x226,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762551992749","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10345537"},{"teacherId":9454749,"projectId":10030137,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our classroom! When the materials arrived, my students were beyond excited—they immediately wanted to explore and start using everything. It was one of those moments where their curiosity and enthusiasm filled the room. Seeing their faces light up reminded me just how meaningful your contribution is, not only for our learning but for building excitement around coming to school each day.\r\n\r\nWe have already started incorporating the new resources into our daily lessons. During a recent activity, students were able to use the materials hands-on while working through a lesson, which helped them stay engaged and better understand the concepts we're learning. I noticed students who don't always volunteer were eager to participate, ask questions, and share their thinking. It created a more interactive and inclusive learning environment, and it has truly made a difference in how my students connect with the content.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using these resources to deepen our learning and build on our current units. My goal is to give students more opportunities for hands-on exploration, collaboration, and critical thinking, and your donation has made that possible. Thank you again for investing in my students and helping create meaningful learning experiences—they feel your support every day!","fullyFundedDate":1768845835129,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-growing-minds/10030137/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Growing Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Zachowski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9454749_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713304607063","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9454749"},{"teacherId":9971622,"projectId":9192193,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding my project! My first grade students have enjoyed using the silly putty to make letters and spell their name. The silly putty was a fun way to incorporate letter learning in my small groups.
