As the year comes to a close and I reflect on the things I am grateful for, y'all are on that list! \r\n\r\nI am a second year teacher, and this is my very first Donor's Choose project. I am just so thrilled that my first project received full funding, and that my students were able to use and enjoy the items so quickly. Like many teachers, I buy so many things for my students and our classroom, but this year I am under a bit of a tighter budget. I was worried that this might create a gap between needs and resources in my classroom, such as not being able to have as many fidgets for students who need them. All this to say, your financial support of my classroom is appreciated more than I can even express in words. I am thankful for your generosity and assistance everyday!\r\n\r\nNow, for the fun part! The biggest hit in my classroom has been the beautiful, colorful waterbottles. In the Texas heat, we always try to make sure our students have a water bottle with them at recess and PE. I started giving out the water bottles to students who didn't have them and then, of course, word spread between my classes and around campus that \"Ms. Hedekin gives out cool water bottles!\" Of course I needed to make an announcement about who these water bottles were for, but it was so sweet how excited they were. Students have picked out the color of their water bottles and even added a few stickers from our class treasure chest (which y'all also funded). We love how the water bottles are different colors and are insulated. They keep cold water cold, even on a hot Texas afternoon! They also are essentially spill-proof, which is a god send in the classroom! :) I truly didn't expect them to be so thrilled by colored water bottles, but my kids always remind me to be grateful and happy about even the smallest things. \r\n\r\nThe fidget pack for my classroom has also been a big hit. So many of my students benefit from using fidgets during instruction, so I am so glad to be able to provide them with these tools. When a student is restless in their seat, whispering to a friend, or constantly asking to get up, I notice an immediate change when they are able to access a fidget. Just having something to hold in their hands and focus their brain a bit more is genuinely transformative! A lot of my kids have nicknamed our new supply of fidgets \"fidgies.\" Again, my students are constantly reminding me (and hopefully y'all) that joy can be part of every day, and that this joy can be provided by something as simple as a fidget!\r\n\r\nThank y'all again for your generous support of me and my classroom. I can't thank you enough!","fullyFundedDate":1761937395597,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-school-essentials/9671190/","projectTitle":"Back to School Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hedekin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10235898_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756741624064","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10235898"},{"teacherId":8008558,"projectId":9265500,"letterContent":"Our students are loving their new canopy tents. We had our usual hot, summer days in August and September and the students really enjoyed relaxing underneath the tents and refilling their water bottles during recess and class. The canopy tents also arrived in time for last year Field Day in May. Naturally, many parents and grandparents sat underneath the tents on the benches and watched their child have a blast playing the activities. This truly helped students to take a quick break during PE and get reenergized to play again. The new books have already begun to spark curiosity and imagination in our readers, while the lamp and chair have created a cozy reading corner that many are enjoying daily. These contributions not only enhance our environment but also help us continue our mission to provide a welcoming and enriching space for our community.\r\n\r\nWhen my students walked into class on the second week of school, they were so excited to see such an inviting and diverse reading space. Students who came in saying they did not like to read have been seen sharing books with other classmates. These same students have made comments such as \"that is just like me\" or \"if I were in that situation I would...\".
