They eagerly awaited the arrival of the headphones we needed and couldn't wait to get started writing and recording their own books. These groups range from Kindergarten to 5th grade with a total of 48 students being impacted this year.Students had been preparing for the project by going to Book Creator, a wonderful free app, and designing the covers of their books. They chose artwork and technology that expressed their personalities. They learned about titles, tables of content, diagrams, captions, and other parts of a book. Each group had a specific topic to explore for their first project, so a page was devoted to interesting facts they discovered while doing the required reading and research. Our topics ranged from Thomas Edison to Johnny Appleseed, to the first landing on the moon. When the books had been put into their first draft the fun began. Students eagerly donned the headphones and began to record additional information using correct sentence format and vocabulary. They shared stories and received feedback from me and classmates. This project has changed my students from reluctant speakers to ones who can't wait to create their audio books.
