My students thrive with hands-on learning and these materials will allow them to manipulate their learning into an effective format that works for them. They can see a letter on a flash card everyday but getting to feel what they letter is and see it will help them develop skills needed to become strong readers.
Tactile learning (with Tactile Letters - Lowercase/Uppercase) helps to engrain the letter into their brain and the Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs help to gain an association between letters and their sounds. More specifically, the Alphabet Sound Tubs will be used in a small group setting to help the students differentiate the letter sounds using manipulates to build a concrete foundation for their letter sound knowledge. The Blends/Diagraphs Tubs will be used to establish an understanding that letters together can form a new sound. Like with the letter sound tubs, these will be used in a small group setting to help each of the children establish a concrete understanding of letter sounds to aid them in their reading development. This will be the same with the Vowel Tubs. With the tactile letters, both Lowercase and Uppercase, the students will work in a small group setting and as independent work to build an understanding of the letter formation. With a strong letter foundation, they will become stronger readers that are ready for first grade.
