Strictly No Elephants and Theo's Mood are beautifully aligned with our June lessons, while Fill a Bucket will support our May lessons. Although I have not had the opportunity to fully unpack and explore all of the materials yet, I am already excited about the possibilities they will bring to our classroom. These resources will give my students opportunities to explore important themes such as friendship, emotions, kindness, empathy, and inclusion in ways that feel engaging and accessible to them.\r\n\r\nMy students with autism often rely on multimodal learning experiences to understand, process, and connect with new concepts. The soft, washable storytelling pieces provide a wonderful hands-on component that allows students to see, touch, manipulate, and interact with the stories rather than simply listening to them. I cannot wait to introduce these kits to my students and watch their reactions as the characters and stories come to life right in front of them. It was truly remarkable! \r\n My students are now able to get their needs met by wiggling and rocking in their chair! These chair feet help create a quiet and discreet way for my students to receive movement breaks throughout lessons. My students are still able to follow along with our class lessons and continue learning while wiggling and wobbling in their chairs! What a wonderful way to receive needed sensory input without distracting other students! These chair feet help support my students' individual sensory and movement needs! Everyone started working immediately on their design. It was great to see such creativity, as well as dialogue back and forth! Next, each student had to transfer their creations onto their tumblers. This was the process where their idea turned into a tangible item! Our students were super excited to see their creation transferred onto a tumbler! Since this sublimation process is visual and structured, our students were able to figure out and follow through with the process to experience immediate results and success! How exciting for our students! They were amazed and truly proud of their work! Throughout this process, our students worked on many skills, such as self-expression, fine motor development, communication, social/emotional, and interpersonal skills! While our students engaged in sublimation printing, they shared ideas, encouraged one another, and celebrated designs.
