Your generosity will bring a child-sized armchair, a kids' rocking chair, and cushions for our staff rocking chair into a space our students already love: our classroom library.\r\n\r\nIn our Pre-K classroom, books are a way to spend time together. Children visit the library to look at pictures, listen to stories, sit beside a friend, and share what catches their attention. Some students are just beginning to turn pages and point to familiar objects. Others are learning to name what they see, answer questions, or tell us which book they would like to read again. Each of those moments helps build a connection with books and with the people around them.\r\n\r\nThe new chairs will help make our library feel like a special place where children want to settle in and stay awhile. A child can curl up in the armchair with a favorite book, or enjoy the gentle movement of the rocking chair while listening to a story. The seating will also give students another opportunity to practice sharing space, taking turns, and choosing how they would like to participate. We are excited to make reading time feel cozy and inviting for every child.\r\n\r\nYour gift also supports an important part of our day that may be less visible: helping children feel calm and ready to learn. For a young child, a busy classroom or a difficult moment can feel overwhelming. When a student needs comfort, a staff member can sit with them in our rocking chair, offer reassurance, and give them time to settle. The cushions you provided will make that chair more comfortable for the staff members who use it throughout the day to support our students.\r\n\r\nWe know that feeling safe and cared for makes a difference in a child's ability to join an activity, connect with others, and explore something new. A quiet moment with a trusted adult can help a student return to the group when they are ready. We are grateful that you recognized this need alongside our wish to make the library more comfortable.\r\n\r\nAs a special education Pre-K teacher, I see how meaningful the environment can be for my students. A cozy seat can encourage a child to pick up a book. A comfortable place to rock can help a child through a hard moment.
