The children's eyes lit up when I unboxed the books and they saw all the different titles. While we already had a few copies, now there are enough for each child to enjoy. Every day after lunch, we wind down with some quiet time. Since receiving these books, their favorite activity has been choosing a Mo Willems' book. They read voraciously, and I am witnessing their love of reading grow. Children who barely picked up a book earlier in the school year now eagerly run to the bins to read on their own or with a friend. Hearing them read with expression and enjoy the humor in the books is priceless.\r\n\r\nWhen I read to the students, they no longer want to be passive listeners. They ask to take turns so they can be one of the characters. While it can be challenging for my young students to maintain focus during other parts of the day, when we read the Elephant and Piggie or Pigeon books, they are 100% engaged. They are up on their knees, reading along. Many of my bilingual and multilingual learners depend on visuals and hands-on tools, so their faces lit up when they realized these materials were for them to use every day. One moment that stands out happened during our multiplying fractions unit: a student who usually struggles with confidence grabbed the multiplying fractions manipulative and used it to model a problem for the whole group. Her classmates cheered when she explained her thinking clearly using the manipulative, and she later told me, \"This makes it easier, I can finally see it.\" The classroom easel and standing desk have also changed the way we learn together. I'm now able to model strategies beside the smartboard and quickly share student work under the document camera, which has made our discussions more interactive and collaborative.\r\n\r\nThese materials are already becoming part of our routine, and they will continue to support students throughout our upcoming units on decimals and multi-step problem solving. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has allowed me to bring in bilingual graphic organizers and differentiated practice pages that match the lessons we're working on right now, and I will keep using it to meet students' needs as they grow. Even the visual timer and motivational rewards have helped us build stronger habits and celebrate progress.
