We used them in all subject areas including math and science. Our big project, however, was creating a Fossil Museum that went with our EL curriculum. As we learned about different fossils, we made them in class. We used clay to make imprints and we made slime to show fossils in amber. In addition, we created a dinosaur fossil with paper towel roles that we painted white. We hung this from our ceiling. In addition, we used the water colors to paint the layers of rock and soil with fossils in them. The students wrote papers as if they were paleontologists and then led families around the museum as experts. It was amazing. \r\n In our next unit on pollination, we will use the supplies to create 3-d flowers with labels that will identify the different parts. We will draw and make different pollinators out of the clay. By making the work hands-on, the students are more invested in reading and writing about the subject. We could not make the learning come alive without your support.","fullyFundedDate":1764695021335,"projectUrl":"project/bring-learning-to-life-with-art/9922337/","projectTitle":"Bring Learning to Life with Art!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4995481_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683730313685","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4995481"},{"teacherId":3090618,"projectId":9934364,"letterContent":"Words cannot express how helpful our new area rug has transcended our learning in Pre-Kindergarten. We are using these new resources every day, and they have made a noticeable difference in how my students organize their work and approach their learning. Each student now has a dedicated notebook and folder for our core subjects, which has helped them keep assignments, notes, and reflections in one place instead of scattered papers.\r\n\r\nOne meaningful moment came during a recent writing project. Students were able to plan, draft, revise, and store their work neatly in their folders, and several of them commented on how much easier it was to find their work and see their progress. Having their own organized materials has helped students feel more responsible and confident in managing their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited. Many immediately asked if the notebooks were \"theirs to keep\" and carefully wrote their names on the covers. For some students, having brand-new supplies made them feel proud and motivated, and it set a positive tone for our classroom routines.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps include continuing our current lesson on organizing ideas for a research and writing project. Students will be using their notebooks to take notes, brainstorm, and reflect, while their folders will help them track drafts and feedback. Students have been taking photos of their work, classroom activities, and details in their environment that stand out to them. We then print the photos and use them as a foundation for discussions, storytelling, and reflection. Students are learning to describe what they see, explain why a moment is important to them, and listen thoughtfully to their classmates' ideas.\r\nWhen students first saw the cameras and photo materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to hold the cameras, carefully choose what to photograph, and proudly share their pictures with peers. Students participate in read-alouds, small-group guided reading, and independent reading time each day. During independent reading, students choose books that interest them, find a comfortable spot, and practice stamina while applying the skills we've been learning. We often end reading time with sharing, where students talk about favorite parts or new discoveries from their books.\r\n\r\nSeveral students are especially enjoying the new additions. Some reluctant readers have been drawn in by engaging topics, colorful illustrations, and relatable characters, and they're spending more time reading than ever before. The moment our materials arrived, my students' excitement filled the room. They watched with wide eyes as we unpacked the baskets, egg shakers, hockey set, and paper supplies each item sparking new curiosity and conversation.\r\n\r\nThe plastic shelving and sturdy baskets made an immediate difference in our daily routines. Having clearly organized materials at eye level has encouraged my students to take ownership of their learning. They can now independently choose ramps, tubes, balls, and tools during center time, which has led to more purposeful play and smoother transitions. Even my quieter students have started exploring centers more confidently because they can see and reach everything easily.\r\n\r\nOne of the most joyful moments came during music and movement when we introduced the multicolored egg shakers. The children shook them, rolled them, and even compared how each color sounded. A few students began creating their own rhythms, and one child proudly announced, \"I made a shaker song!\" These small instruments have been amazing for supporting listening skills, coordination, and expression.\r\n\r\nThe hockey kit brought teamwork and turn-taking to life. My students practiced gentle hitting, chasing pucks, and cheering each other on. It quickly became one of our favorite outdoor activities and has helped promote gross-motor development and cooperative play.\r\n\r\nWith the card stock, laminating sheets, and TPT resources, I was able to create durable vocabulary cards, center labels, and visual supports that help guide student learning. These tools have made our Balls Study more meaningful, allowing the children to compare shapes, sizes, and motion while having sturdy materials they can use independently. Having extra iPad chargers has also ensured we never miss a moment for documentation, music, or interactive learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your contribution, my students are now able to fully engage in our Balls Study with hands-on materials that promote exploration, language development, problem-solving, and creativity. Their next steps include testing the speed of different balls on ramps, sorting balls by size and texture, and even making predictions about which balls roll the farthest. These experiences build early science, math, and motor skills in ways that feel joyful and accessible for young learners.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your support.
