In our classroom, we are focusing on how can come together and share our experiences in meaningful ways to connect us to one another. In the PreK room, books are essential to this process. In this through our stories that we learn about people who share in our experiences and cultures. However, without books that show a greater diversity of people, my children cannot make deeper connections if they cannot see themselves in the pages. If we are going to be a truly anti-racist, inclusive school community, then our books need to express that to give our students the connections they need to thrive.
