Technology is a wonderful educational tool. Leveraging the interest of the students passion for computers with an academic need, provides an ideal learning situation.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting item received is the buzzer system. Students look forward to the healthy competition. Students were grouped based on their current math skills allowing for each math level to have a student to be celebrated. Groups were presented with problems presented on the SmartBoard. The buzzer system provided the engagement as they raced to be the first to buzz in. All participates recieved the stickers from the project, the winners were given a printed certificate and reward. The students in my classroom now know how to navigate our cozy space and are able to use all of the materials presented to them to regulate their emotions. \r\nI remember when I first unveiled our new space, the students thought that is was a choice area and they all flocked over, but after a short discussion students then realized the important of the cozy corner and used it only when necessary.\r\n On one occasion, one of my jolly students came in sad. He proceeded to get his family picture and sat down int he cozy corner with one of our squishy relaxing sensory balls. After 5 minutes he jumped up and told me that the squishy ball helped him squeeze out his sad feelings and with that he was then ready for the school day.\r\nI honestly don't know where the students would be if it wasnt for the safe space aka the cozy corner.
