We are so grateful for your donation to provide a class set of the novel Chains. As part of our 5th grade standards, we learn about the American Revolution. Although this novel is historical fiction, we were able to stop and discuss so many details in the novel that aligned with our study of the American Revolution. This novel helped to bring social studies to life! Not only did the novel tie into the social studies standards, but we also continued to review and apply our knowledge of the 5th grade ELA standards with our ending one-pager novel art project including: figurative language, predictions, descriptive and sensory details, literary elements, plot, characterization, and so much more! I also have a handful of avid readers who are eager to continue reading the rest of the series over the summer. What an incredible novel study thanks to your generosity.
