The resources will allow students to gain hands-on learning experiences individually and with other students in small groups which will help them with fine motor skills, phonics, math, art, and so much more. The art supplies will allow students to be creative and with a little guidance, they can make beautiful artwork by using different colors and applying them the correct way (ex: the sun is yellow-not black) as well as staying inside the lines. The CVC Word Work Center, Letter Crayons Word Building Center, and Build the Letter Activity Center will allow students to work on letter recognition, phonics and word building to better prepare them for Kindergarten. The math manipulatives will not only help the students with counting it will help them with number, shape, and pattern recognition. I feel hands-on learning is what children need more nowadays. Every year I am amazed at how some of my students have never even held a crayon or pencil, used scissors, or even put a puzzle together. Each student deserves all the hands-on instruction they can get. My students are little sponges who absorb so much in their first academic year and the resources will allow me to give them the experiences they need! A part of being in Pre-K is not only about academics but it consists of learning how to share, take turns and establish a community with good citizens for when they move on to other grades, they will be respectful students and learners.
