My students have been collecting cardboard over the past month since we believe they will need a lot in case they mess up. Teaching is never a journey that is traveled alone, and I have felt very blessed to have had your encouragement, involvement, and care along the way.\r\n\r\nThis year has been full of growth in so many ways. Academically, the students have made steady progress, and I could not be prouder of the effort they put forth each day. One area that stood out was handwriting. At the beginning of the year, many of our students were still developing their fine motor skills and often felt frustrated when writing. With consistent practice, patience, and encouragement, their handwriting not only improved in neatness but also in confidence. It has been so rewarding to see them take pride in their written work and to witness the excitement when they could clearly see their own progress.\r\n\r\nReading growth has also been a highlight. Month by month, the students' reading scores improved, but beyond the numbers, what struck me most was their growing love for reading. They became more eager to pick up books, more willing to take on challenges, and more determined to understand what they were reading. Many students who were hesitant at the start of the year have now found joy in stories, and that is something I believe will carry them far beyond first grade. Watching this transformation has been one of the most rewarding parts of teaching this group.\r\n\r\nEqually important was their development in social and emotional learning. This year, the students learned how to maneuver through both academic challenges and social interactions with greater positivity. They learned how to work with one another, how to show kindness, and how to resolve conflicts in constructive ways. We practiced teamwork, patience, and respect, and I could see those qualities growing stronger each week. Their ability to balance both academic goals and social relationships was truly inspiring. These skills will serve them well not just in the classroom, but in every part of their lives as they continue to grow.\r\n\r\nNone of this progress would have been possible without the encouragement and support you have given. Whether you sent supplies, volunteered your time, asked about our learning at home, or simply offered words of encouragement, you made a difference. Your involvement has helped create a classroom environment where students felt cared for, supported, and motivated to succeed. For that, I am deeply grateful.\r\n\r\nAs I look back on this year, I feel proud of the hard work our students accomplished, and I also feel thankful for the strong partnership between school and home. This collaboration has been at the heart of our success, and I know the children have benefited greatly from it.\r\n\r\nThank you, once again, for supporting our classroom and our students this year. It has been a joy to teach your children, and I look forward to seeing all the ways they will continue to grow and shine in the years ahead.","fullyFundedDate":1696262369847,"projectUrl":"project/tinchers-hungry-caterpillars-turn-into/7685130/","projectTitle":"Tincher’s Hungry Caterpillars Turn Into Butterflies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tincher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9188941_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y110&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756416299209","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/l-tincher"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1519","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":445,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":56,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.1,"schoolId":1519,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Petree Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Petree Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/winston-salem-forsyth-county-schools/petree-elementary-school/1519"}
