Students who prefer other seating options still have choices, so everyone can work in a way that suits them best.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the new materials, students were thrilled and curious. They loved exploring the different ways to sit and were quick to ask if they could use the seats for tests or group work. Their excitement showed how much a comfortable, choice-driven environment can motivate learning.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to integrate flexible seating into more lessons and projects, allowing students to choose spots that help them focus, collaborate, or think creatively. It is great to have enough cushions for anyone who wants one to work around the room. We don't seem to run out now that we have an additional set. \r\nI have had a few students finish up early this week and get to choose from the new games. I enjoyed observing them pick out a game, read the rules together, and begin to play a new game to keep their math skills sharp. Having this face-to-face interaction as opposed to just doing extra math on a screen when they are done allows them to continue their interpersonal and math skills. I am looking into using these during WIN time for interested students.\r\nI started finding new enriching resources on TeachersPayTeachers to print, such as the Magic Squares. It is very difficult motivating middle schoolers to read, so I am grateful for the book Holes by Louis Sachar. Because the book has a relatable main character, students are more invested in the reading journey. With more student engagement, comes more student thinking. \r\nThis age appropriate book will allow me to strengthen students' reading comprehension and literary knowledge. I especially like how the book has a \"story within a story\" that connects various characters both past and present. My students have never read a book with a plot structure like this. It will be a challenge, but I am happy to help them overcome it.\r\nWhen we finish the book, I know the students will wish a sequel existed.
