All a teacher ever wants is for their students to succeed. In order to do that, we try our best to provide them with everything they need to achieve that success.\r\n\r\nTeaching in a Title 1 school makes it difficult to ask the parents to supply the necessary items for school. They are already bearing the strain of providing for their families on limited salaries. I don't ever send a supply request home to my families. Instead, I watch all summer for sales at the big box stores and buy folders, glue sticks, dry erase supplies, etc. When my students step into school on the first day, I want them to be excited to learn and feel as though they have all the tools they need.\r\n\r\nHeadphones are an absolute blessing. We have a few online programs that the students are required to use. Sitting next to each other, it becomes difficult to concentrate when the person sitting next to you is also working on a digital program. When we read one particular book in a series, they begged to read the others! They are still talking about some of these stories days/weeks later. \r\nAfter we read the books, some of us did book reviews and wrote about our favorite books. I will be sending you pictures of these writings so you can enjoy their excitement also. \r\nIn a world filled with technology, it can be hard sometimes to get students excited about literacy. These read alouds will be added to our collection to share with the students as they arrive in our curriculum/themes or \"just because\" when we need a good book. The \"thank yous\" echoed throughout the room as I handed each student their bag.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the personal supplies, I was also able to purchase snacks for the classroom as well. Students cannot learn when their bellies are grumbling all day. These snacks have been such a blessing. With your generosity, I purchased 3 snack bins to hold the snacks and make them easily accessible for my students right on our back counter. These bins also help with the keeping out the random mice that like to come around looking for their own snacks!\r\n\r\nI think my students are absolutely amazing. Their resiliency is something to be admired. They are very hard workers. Even through adversity, they come to school with smiles on their faces every day. They are so very deserving of this gift.\r\n\r\nI plan on keeping these bins stocked with snacks. This will probably come from my pocket, but it is the least I can do after getting such a generous donation.
