For some students, a quiet space, movement activity, fidget, calming light, or flexible seating can make a tremendous difference in their ability to manage big emotions and stay engaged in learning. They had fun bouncing them back and forth. 4th grade enjoyed playing on bucket drums with the song This Little Light of Mine. Their faces lit up when they saw the bucket drums set up for class! I have offered the noise canceling headphones to several classes. So far the only class to use them was 2nd grade. I was surprised how many students asked to use them because I didn't realize they had sensory sensitivities. I used every pair that was donated for that class!\r\n\r\nThe bucket drums are going to be played by every grade level with a variety of songs. Because they have the poly spots on top, they sound more like real drums and allow for a greater variety of sounds that the bucket drums can make. Students will play pitches on their recorders anytime the ball hits the floor, which is a fun challenge. The noise canceling headphones will be offered to every class.
