Board games have turned practice into play, motivating students to work on their language and articulation skills in a way that feels natural and fun. The instructional books and mouth model have allowed us to explore sound production more concretely, helping students visualize and understand how speech sounds are formed. This has made our practice more interactive, meaningful, and effective.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, we've also been able to role-play and recreate real-life, functional situations—like ordering food at a restaurant or asking for help—so that children can practice their skills in contexts that mirror their everyday experiences. These opportunities have built confidence and encouraged them to carry over their progress beyond the therapy room. Your donation has not only enriched our resources but also energized our sessions with creativity, joy, and purpose. Thank you for believing in the potential of every child and for helping us create a supportive environment where they can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1748009964623,"projectUrl":"project/a-speech-tacular-way-to-communicate/9079945/","projectTitle":"A speech-tacular way to communicate!!!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hackett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9907458"},{"teacherId":1783973,"projectId":8882721,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed into a vibrant, engaging space for reading and learning! These new decodable books, hands-on tools, and organizational resources are helping my fourth and fifth grade special education students strengthen their phonics, decoding, and writing skills in ways that are meaningful and fun.\r\n\r\nThe Phonic Books series (like Moon Dogs and Alba) along with The Yak Pack comics have been instrumental in building confidence with decoding and blending sounds. For example, Alijah, who struggled with vowel teams and consonant blends, now proudly reads full pages from Moon Dogs Set 3. The clear structure and repetition in these books help him recognize spelling patterns and read more fluently.\r\n\r\nDavid has been drawn to The Yak Pack comics—he loves the illustrations and humor. These books sneak in lots of practice with tricky word types (like Bossy E words and blends) without feeling like \"work\" to him. He often volunteers to read aloud, something he never did before.\r\n\r\nVictoria enjoys using the Elkonin Box Magnetic Answer Board during our phonemic awareness activities. Mapping sounds and building words with this tactile tool has helped her break down longer words, and she's now using those strategies independently while reading.\r\n\r\nAnd Angelo and Enzo loves anything hands-on! They especially enjoys the alphabet stamps and the magnetic fishing game. These tools have helped them connect letters and sounds in a playful, engaging way, which is key to keeping them motivated.\r\n\r\nReading in our resource room is no longer just about decoding—it's about discovery, creativity, and joy. These resources have truly made a difference in their academic growth and self-confidence.
