This is such an important project. All of my students are new to this country. They do not have the English skills to read the books they are interested in, and the books they can read in English are too babyish. Portuguese language books are so hard to find. I'm blessed to have access to many Spanish books but Portuguese is another story, and more than half my caseload is Portuguese speaking. I want them to be able to continue reading at a level appropriate to them, and with interesting books they will really enjoy. It's critical to their development.
