Because of your kindness, we were able to provide essential hygiene products and make them easily accessible to all of our students. Your contributions have made a meaningful difference in both their daily lives and overall well-being.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful parts of this project was creating a \"build your own hygiene kit\" station. Students were able to select the supplies they needed and place them in a bag to take home. This not only gave them a sense of independence and dignity, but it also opened the door for important conversations. We talked about healthy habits, such as how often to floss and when to replace a toothbrush, helping students build knowledge they will carry with them long-term.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your support has helped create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking for what they need. Whether it's feminine hygiene products, deodorant, or other essentials, students now know these resources are available to them without hesitation or embarrassment.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your generosity and for believing in our students. These shared texts have truly transformed how my students read, think, and learn individually and together.\r\n\r\nWhat skills and lessons are these novel study books introducing?\r\nWith whole class and small group novels, students are learning how to read more deeply and thoughtfully. \r\nThese books help us practice essential skills such as: Tracking character development and understanding how characters' choices drive the plot. Identifying themes and connecting them to real-world issues. Citing evidence to support opinions during discussions and written responses. Making inferences, analyzing symbolism, and recognizing an author's craft. Comparing perspectives among characters and among classmates Because we're all reading the same titles, students get repeated practice discussing big ideas, challenging each other respectfully, and building interpretations together.\r\n\r\nReading time has become wonderfully interactive. Some days you'll find students reading aloud in partners, stopping to unpack tricky vocabulary or puzzling over a character's motives. Other days we read quietly and then come together for lively Socratic-style conversations, sticky-note exchanges, or \"turn-and-talk\" moments that get every student thinking out loud.\r\n\r\nStudents also complete creative extensions character journals, timeline sketches, theme trackers which help them process what they're reading in ways that feel meaningful and personal. The atmosphere during novel study is one of collaboration, curiosity, and genuine engagement.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have blossomed since we began using these novels. One student who often felt overwhelmed by longer texts has thrived with the support of shared reading; he proudly told the class that this is the first novel he's ever finished from start to finish. Another student usually quiet has become one of our most insightful discussion leaders, drawing connections between the novel and her own life experiences.\r\n\r\nEven our reluctant readers are leaning in more. Having a book that everyone is reading gives them a sense of belonging and confidence. I've watched students who used to avoid reading time come in eager to find out \"what happens next.\"\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide books it created a shared literary experience that is building stronger readers, deeper thinkers, and a more connected classroom community.
