Because of your generosity, my students have been able to engage with All-American Boys in ways that go far beyond simply reading a novel.\r\n\r\nThis book has become a vehicle for some of the most meaningful conversations we've had all year. As we read, students are learning to analyze character development, identify themes, evaluate an author's purpose, and support their thinking with evidence from the text. More importantly, they are learning to examine multiple perspectives, ask difficult questions, and think critically about justice, identity, bias, and the choices people make in challenging situations. These are skills that extend well beyond English class—they are life skills.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is highly interactive. Students annotate the text, participate in partner and small-group discussions, write reflections, engage in Socratic Seminars, and connect the novel's events to historical and current issues. Rather than simply looking for the \"right answer,\" students are encouraged to wrestle with complex ideas, listen to one another, and respectfully challenge different viewpoints. It has been incredible to watch their confidence grow as they learn that their voices and experiences matter.","fullyFundedDate":1772546738748,"projectUrl":"project/stories-that-matter-literature-to-buil/10004141/","projectTitle":"Stories That Matter: Literature to Build Perspective and Social Awareness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bustamante","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1262629_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1451255924124","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1262629"},{"teacherId":10349486,"projectId":9893541,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contribution to start a care closet at our school.
