Because the uke is small, lightweight, and easy to learn, children feel successful quickly-building confidence from the very first lesson. When playing together as a group, students practice teamwork, cooperation, and respectful listening. \r\n\r\nWe have learned to tune the ukelele which is always a challenge but necessary. We have learned 5 chords which are enabling students to play songs they hear and know. Their eyes light up when they play familiar music. It makes the work to learn these fingerings worth all the trouble. \r\n\r\nOur goal is to combine ukelele playing with some Orff instruments over the next few weeks.
