The laboratory materials have expanded what I am able to do with my biology students and have given them more opportunities to investigate, experiment, collect data, and make connections between what they learn in class and what actually happens in the laboratory. For my IB Biology students, these supplies are especially meaningful because they will also support the independent investigations they complete as part of their course.\r\n\r\nThe impact goes beyond our laboratory work. Having a large supply of colored pencils means students have the materials they need for biological diagrams, models, data displays, and other activities without worrying about bringing their own supplies. The additional computer screen has made it easier for me to plan lessons, manage student work, analyze data, and organize the many digital resources I use to teach multiple science courses.\r\n\r\nAnd then there is the fan! Our classroom gets extremely warm, and when students are hot and uncomfortable, concentrating becomes difficult. The fan has made an immediate difference in the comfort of our room. Something as simple as making the classroom cooler has helped create an environment where students can focus more on learning and less on how hot they are.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project so special is that every item addressed a real need in our classroom. These were not just supplies added to a shelf. They are resources my students and I are actively using to make our classroom more comfortable, engaging, and equipped for meaningful science learning.\r\n\r\nYour support gave me tools that I would not have been able to provide for my students on my own, and that has genuinely changed what I am able to offer them. The portable monitor and docking station expanded the ways students can work with digital resources, analyze information, and share their work, while the monitor stands and organizational supplies helped us establish a functional space that students could actually use.\r\nThe easel pad has also provided students with a place to brainstorm, organize ideas, collaborate, and make their thinking visible. Rather than research being limited to simply searching for information and writing an assignment, students have opportunities to investigate questions, organize evidence, discuss their thinking with others, and communicate what they have learned.\r\nOne of the things I appreciate most about this project is that these resources were not purchased for a single lesson or unit. As they worked, students quickly discovered that designing something and actually constructing it are two very different challenges! They had to troubleshoot, make adjustments, correct mistakes, and try new approaches when their original ideas did not work as planned.\r\n\r\nThat process brought the engineering design cycle to life. Instead of simply learning about designing, testing, and improving a prototype, students experienced that process for themselves. They also practiced precision, patience, collaboration, problem-solving, and attention to detail while learning how the same concepts connect science and engineering with fashion design and technical theater.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project was watching students with different interests and experience levels work alongside one another. Some were learning these skills for the first time, while others were able to build upon skills they already had. Students were able to see that STEAM learning does not have to exist within the walls of one classroom or fit neatly into one subject area. Your support provided sewing machines, thread, cutting tools, sewing supplies, and other equipment that gave us the ability to begin changing that.\r\n\r\nThese tools have allowed us to build a functional costume-making space where costumes can be designed, constructed, altered, repaired, and reused for our productions. What began as an effort to become more self-sufficient has grown into a resource that can continue supporting our theater program year after year.\r\n\r\nJust as importantly, the costume shop creates another place for students to belong and contribute to the performing arts. Not every student wants to be on stage. The students were shocked to learn that they could use the Kuerig as well. It was fun to teach them how to use the machine. Hearing them come up with different coffee-styled drinks, and watching their creativity flow brought me great joy. My plan is to add on to the coffee station, as it adds to the culture of our classroom. The coffee station has also come in handy as we prepare for our upcoming spring show. Since the kids and myself have to work longer days, our coffee station has saved the day many times. \r\nYour contributions help my classes thrive. They were able to read with their peers, without being shy to ask for help from a teacher to read for them. But from time to time, everyone in the class also enjoys a good read-aloud, just like the old times! My multi-lingual student also praised the handy translator; he said he wished his parents also had the same translator, so they could carry it around. It was much easier compared to having to pull up an app from a computer or phone.\r\n\r\nOur classroom learning and hygiene supplies are restocked, thanks to you! Just in time for this confusing Carolina weather. Thank you, because my students do not have to worry or feel pressured for coming to class without complete materials, because it is made available to them. The students then rounded those sculptures and used the extra glue to create a papier mache paste that they used to Papier Mache the sculpture.
