Students were eager to try out the new equipment, and they were amazed at how much faster they could cook. Our first experiment — a colorful and flavorful fried rice — was a hit (see our example photo!). They couldn't believe how quickly it came together compared to the stovetop version.\r\n\r\nNext semester, these tools will be used in our Nutrition and Wellness class, where students will focus on cooking healthy meals in less time. They'll explore everything from quick one-pot dinners to making homemade yogurt in the Instant Pot. This technology allows students to step beyond traditional classrooms and design immersive experiences that bring learning to life. For example, students in our software design course have created interactive virtual tours and cross-curricular lessons that their peers can access in VR headsets.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is the chance to become creators, not just consumers, of cutting-edge technology. They love capturing their own environments—whether it's documenting school events, recording science experiments, or telling personal stories—and transforming them into fully navigable spaces. One group recently filmed a cultural storytelling project, giving classmates the chance to \"step into\" experiences from their heritage.\r\n\r\nStudents who might otherwise struggle with engagement have especially warmed to the cameras. Visual learners and English language learners, for example, have found that immersive 360° video helps them express themselves and share perspectives without being limited by text. In one case, a student who had been reluctant to participate in class proudly presented a 360° tour he filmed, sparking conversation and admiration from peers.\r\n\r\nYour investment has empowered our students with 21st-century skills—creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and digital fluency—while giving them a voice in shaping how learning is experienced at North High School.
