As soon as the magnetic fractions arrived, I quickly displayed them on the whiteboard. We had just wrapped up our fraction unit with the fourth-grade students, and they noticed the fractions on the board the moment they walked into the classroom.\r\n\r\nNaturally, they had a lot of questions—starting with the most obvious: \"Are they magnetic?\" Although the pieces were clearly sticking to the whiteboard, they were still a bit skeptical, since none of our previous fraction materials had been magnetic.\r\n\r\nFortunately, some of my morning helpers, who arrive before school starts, were able to prepare the materials for the day. They separated the sets into individual fractions and got everything ready for our lesson.\r\n\r\nAlthough we only had time to use the materials for a review—since we were closing our unit and preparing for end-of-year state testing—the magnetic fraction set proved very helpful. The colorful pieces are easy to see and make comparisons simple. They allowed us to revisit key concepts like equivalent fractions, which are part of both the third- and fourth-grade curriculum.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic feature also made it easy to manipulate the pieces in front of the whole class, enhancing visibility and engagement. We are so grateful to have these materials.
