The colored paper was a big hit with students as they called out what color would be best for a number, \"Twelves should be red because they are so hard!\" We all had a great time deciding what colors belonged to what number. Students are definitely more engaged in using flash cards to help remember multiplication facts.\r\n The handwriting magnetic poster came in handy as we were able to practice letter placement, strokes, and penmanship with the whole group to do cursive. It makes teaching letter formation much better and more efficient. Most of us are still learning, but we're more enthusiastic to try now! \r\n We are going to use our colored flash cards for the rest of the school year and even keep them for fourth grade. Since students were able to choose the colors for the numbers it has now given me the idea of asking incoming third graders their color preferences so that they are more engaged in creating and using them. One meaningful moment occurred when a group of students who typically ate alone began collaborating during a game, taking turns, laughing, and problem-solving together. These resources have helped naturally facilitate social interaction, communication, and peer connection in a low-pressure setting.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were immediately excited and curious. Many asked when they could participate and which games they would get to play. The inviting setup helped students feel safe and motivated to join, especially those who often struggle with social connections during unstructured times like lunch. The positive energy and engagement were noticeable right away.\r\n\r\nPiloting the Lunch Bunch program is an important first step, as it allows me to observe student engagement, track social growth, and make data-based decisions moving forward. Next steps include gradually expanding participation, collecting observational data on social interactions, and refining the structure to best meet student needs. This thoughtful approach will help ensure the program is sustainable and continues to positively support students' social-emotional development.","fullyFundedDate":1758827769447,"projectUrl":"project/lunch-bunch-magic-helping-kids-connect/9662487/","projectTitle":"Lunch Bunch Magic: Helping Kids Connect and Belong at School!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cornejo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9833822_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731532244785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-cornejo-psych"},{"teacherId":9833822,"projectId":9349286,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding my project!
