By design, the Progress Power-Up creates a structured space where students receive focused instruction aligned to identified needs, while also experiencing encouragement, accountability, and measurable growth. Its influence extends beyond test scores, shaping student mindset, engagement, and ownership of learning.\r\nOne of the most significant impacts of hosting the Progress Power-Up is the way it addresses learning gaps in a proactive and supportive manner. Rather than allowing students to struggle silently in core instruction, the Power-Up provides timely intervention that meets students where they are. Through targeted skill reinforcement in areas such as reading comprehension, fluency, problem-solving, and foundational math concepts, students are able to revisit essential skills without stigma. This intentional focus helps prevent gaps from widening and supports long-term academic success.\r\nAnother key impact is the increase in student confidence and academic self-efficacy. Many students enter intervention spaces with a history of frustration or discouragement. The Progress Power-Up reframes learning as achievable by breaking content into manageable goals and celebrating incremental progress. Students experience success more frequently, which reinforces the belief that effort leads to growth. Over time, this confidence transfers back into the classroom, where students are more willing to participate, take risks, and persevere through challenging tasks.\r\nThe Progress Power-Up also positively influences student engagement. Because sessions are purposeful and data-informed, students understand the \"why\" behind their participation. Instruction is focused, interactive, and responsive, which increases attention and motivation. Students are not simply completing extra work; they are engaging in learning that is directly connected to their needs and progress. This clarity helps students view the Power-Up as an opportunity rather than a requirement, fostering a more positive attitude toward intervention.\r\nAn additional motivating factor within the Progress Power-Up is the intentional use of rewards to reinforce effort, growth, and consistency. The reward system is designed not simply to incentivize participation, but to recognize progress and perseverance. When students earn rewards, they experience tangible affirmation that their hard work matters. This recognition increases motivation, encourages sustained effort, and reinforces positive learning behaviors. For many students, especially those who have struggled academically, rewards help shift their identity from one of frustration to one of achievement.\r\nImportantly, the rewards are closely tied to growth rather than perfection. This helps students understand that improvement is valued as much as mastery. As a result, students are more willing to take risks, stay engaged, and persist through challenges. Over time, the external motivation provided by rewards supports the development of internal motivation, as students begin to take pride in their progress and set personal goals for continued growth.\r\nIn summary, hosting the Progress Power-Up is making a meaningful difference in student outcomes by addressing learning gaps, building confidence, increasing engagement, and fostering ownership of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1762207937315,"projectUrl":"project/progress-power-up-reading-awards-program/9812067/","projectTitle":"Progress Power-Up Reading Awards Program","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Whitaker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8826067_orig.jpg?crop=702,702,x108,y334&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673308907699","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8826067"},{"teacherId":9869102,"projectId":8997636,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for your generous contribution to our First Grade Interactive Classroom Library. Thanks to your support, we have been able to enrich our classroom with a wonderful collection of books in Spanish, which has had a very positive impact on my students.\r\n\r\nThe Spanish books make a great difference in our Dual Language Immersion (DLI) classroom and greatly support both the curriculum and teaching. Many of my students come from homes where Spanish is the primary language, and now they feel proud to see and read books in their native language. For those who are learning Spanish, these books have become valuable tools to improve their vocabulary and comprehension.\r\n\r\nEach week, students get to take home two books from our library to read with their parents. This has created meaningful opportunities for family bonding and has further strengthened their reading skills and love for stories beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nDuring our reading sessions, students are excited to choose their favorite books and share stories with their classmates. We have seen a significant increase in their interest in reading and greater participation in class activities. One very special moment was when a usually shy child gained the confidence to read aloud in Spanish for the entire class, and the pride on their face was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we have created a space where cultural diversity is celebrated and where all children can feel valued and represented. Your generosity has not only brought books into our classroom but has also strengthened a love for reading and learning.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you very much for making this wonderful experience possible for my students and me.
