Because of your generosity, our classroom finally has a cozy library filled with books that truly meet my students where they are as readers. It's already changing the way they read, the way they talk about books, and even the way they see themselves as readers. \r\n\r\nWhen the books arrived, the excitement was instant. My students crowded around my desk to help open the books so we could immediately add them into my library. And we've already put the books to good use. During our reading block, students now go straight to the library to pick a \"just right\" book with confidence. One moment that really stuck with me happened during our cozy reading time. A student who is an emerging reader found a longer chapter book and asked a friend to help her read it because she wanted to find out on her own what happened in the next story in the series. It was such a small moment, but it felt huge for her and for me. \r\n\r\nAs we continue in the school year, we are going to use our library not just as a way to read independently but have reading buddies. We have also expanded our classroom librarian job so the librarian can help recommend books and check them in and out. We started an 100 book reading challenge at the beginning of the year and are making great strides towards our goal. \r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and giving them access to books that make them feel capable, excited, and proud. Your kindness and generosity show up in our classroom every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1759685854481,"projectUrl":"project/a-brand-new-2nd-grade-classroom-library/9755079/","projectTitle":"A Brand New 2nd Grade Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hamel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10162830_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754657650674","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/alhamel"},{"teacherId":548367,"projectId":9013246,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of decodable books to our classroom. Your support has made a powerful impact on my students. These books give them the chance to read texts filled with sounds and words they've learned—giving them the tools to feel confident and successful as readers. Students light up when they realize, \"I can read this!\" That feeling of success motivates them to keep going, to try harder, and to enjoy reading in a way that might not have been accessible to them before.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting things to see is how eager the kids are to borrow the books and take them home. They can't wait to show their families what they've learned and read aloud with pride. That joy and ownership over their reading is priceless. It's helping them see themselves as readers—not just in school, but in life.\r\n\r\nThe decodable chapter books have been especially meaningful. It's rare to find longer, more complex stories that are still controlled enough for developing readers to decode independently. These books give struggling readers the opportunity to engage with richer plots and characters without the overwhelming frustration of too many unfamiliar words. They can finally experience chapter books like their peers.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and support.
