It has only been a few months, however, I have seen a large impact in their writing abilites. Every day, they come in and get their journals at the beginning of class. If, for some reason, they are not journaling that day, they get frustrated and ask why they don't get to do it. This has not happened before. It is amazing.\r\n\r\nWhen the students arrived at school, some were relieved that they did not have to worry about getting a journal. Some of our students struggle with household income. One less thing to worry about was tremendous to them. \r\n\r\nAgain, the project is already seeing great success. This couldn't have happened without you. They enjoyed the characters and real life situations. \r\n\r\nThis book was used as a prolonged lesson. We read a chapter a day and then spent the rest of our class time discussing the book and completing activities.\r\n\r\nA couple of the students shared that the brother's character was especially meaningful. The brother had autism and the family dealt with it many different ways.
