I am incredibly excited to use these books for novel studies with my students. The timing could not have been more perfect — one of my reading groups had just finished their previous book the very day your donation arrived, so they were able to jump right into one of the new titles immediately. They are already about a fourth of the way through the book, and they have been so engaged that they often ask if they can continue reading even outside of our scheduled reading time!\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this donation is seeing students connect with books that truly match their interests. Their enthusiasm for reading has been amazing to watch, and I am excited to see how their love of reading continues to grow through these new opportunities. Even the students who have not yet had a chance to read the new books are eager to get started — several have already told me they plan to ask their fourth grade teacher if they can borrow the books when our class is finished with them.\r\nYour kindness is making a lasting impact not only in my classroom, but also throughout our school community. We have been doing daily timed writing activities in the notebooks, where students respond to a prompt each day. Many students are writing a full page or more, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence and stamina improve over time. The notebooks have become an important part of our daily routine.\r\nThe whisper phones have also made a huge difference during silent reading time. Students enjoy using them, and they have helped readers stay more focused and on task while reading quietly to themselves. The excitement around using the whisper phones has encouraged many students to spend more time reading and practicing fluency skills. The bookmarks have also been very useful for helping students keep track of where they stop reading each day in their books.\r\nI am very grateful for these materials and excited to continue using them next school year to promote reading, strengthen writing skills, and help students fall in love with reading.","fullyFundedDate":1778227130107,"projectUrl":"project/reading-tools-for-growing-minds/10275593/","projectTitle":"Reading Tools for Growing Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10483181_orig.jpg?crop=1666,1667,x0,y522&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776796027427","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10483181"},{"teacherId":10503347,"projectId":10275814,"letterContent":"My students were incredibly excited when the foam dodgeballs and weight towers arrived! One of our favorite classroom moments happened during a teamwork challenge where students worked together to protect targets while communicating and strategizing as a group. Hearing students encourage one another and celebrate teamwork was amazing to watch.\r\n\r\nThe weight towers will become an important part of our fitness units. While we have not been able to use the new SMART Board yet because it still needs to be installed, the impact it will have on our classroom is already exciting to think about. This isn't just a screen on a wall—it completely changes how teaching and learning can happen. Instead of students only watching information be projected or seeing lessons through a document camera, they will be able to physically interact with lessons, manipulate objects on the screen, solve problems together, and actively participate in learning.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is that so many activities instantly become hands-on and interactive. Math lessons can become games and problem-solving challenges. Reading activities can involve students highlighting, sorting, dragging, and interacting directly with text. Students love opportunities to come up and be part of the lesson, and this technology creates far more chances for participation and movement. I already know the excitement level will be huge once it is installed.\r\n\r\nI am especially excited for students who learn best through movement, visuals, and hands-on experiences. Some students struggle with simply sitting and watching instruction, but giving them the opportunity to physically interact with learning can make a huge difference in engagement and understanding. Personally, this will also completely change my teaching style. Instead of being behind a computer or tied to a document camera, I get to be out in front of my students teaching more actively and interacting with them in real time. This gift is going to create a more connected, engaging, and student-centered classroom experience, and I cannot wait to see the impact it has.","fullyFundedDate":1776085740198,"projectUrl":"project/bring-learning-to-life-with-a-smart-boar/10139818/","projectTitle":"Bring Learning to Life With a Smart Board!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Presley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7863080_orig.jpg?crop=956,956,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1634141190404","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7863080"},{"teacherId":7863080,"projectId":10133207,"letterContent":"Our classroom March Madness has become one of the most anticipated events of the year, and these new resources are going to take it to an entirely new level! As a new 5th grade teacher, I was starting with very little, but these resources helped me create the special experience these students deserve as they finish elementary school.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been seeing pieces of the celebration come together. Students loved the game-style activities because learning felt more interactive and collaborative. These texts have become such an important part of our upcoming Wax Museum project, where students research an influential person, become experts on their lives, and eventually bring their person to life through a live museum experience. While students are reading, we are working on important skills like identifying key details, summarizing information, determining important ideas, taking notes from multiple sources, and using evidence to support our thinking and writing. We are also learning how to organize research and turn facts into meaningful presentations rather than simply copying information.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks very active right now. Students are spread around the room with books open, sticky notes nearby, and notebooks filled with facts, questions, and discoveries. You can hear conversations about inventors, athletes, historical figures, activists, and leaders as students excitedly share surprising information they have learned. Instead of reading just to answer questions at the end of a chapter, students are reading with a purpose because they know they will eventually step into the shoes of their person and teach others.\r\n\r\nI have especially loved seeing students who are sometimes reluctant readers become completely invested in the books.
