My students are loving this book! We read it for the first 10-15 minutes each day, and I get a lot of complaining when it's time to stop reading. Usually, I have to make students open a book and read along, but not with this one! \r\n\r\nStudents are making a lot of connections with their other classes, like science and math. Sometimes we stop and look up formulas to understand how Grace made calculations. My STEM focused students are really being drawn into this book. \r\n\r\nWe also make connections with concepts we're learning in class. Students have been identifying figurative language and analyzing Andy Weir's rhetorical strategies, like how he uses flashback.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping my students have this experience!","fullyFundedDate":1755463804766,"projectUrl":"project/project-saving-the-world-science-ficti/9495581/","projectTitle":"Project Saving the World! This project provided us with exactly what we needed to provide our library with more books. The coffee syrups are always a hit with my students and never go as far as I want the supplies to. Having the syrups provided saved us money that went to buying more copies of books. Having a bubble gum machine, you would think would be a disaster for a library. But surprisingly it is isn't. I love that I was able.to support my student's mental health, through crafting. Providing a place where my students can share a piece of themselves is an important part of having a makerspace. This school year, our makerspace has been used for a lot of grieving students. We unfortunately have had several tragic deaths and students have wanted to create a shirt to memorialize their classmate/friend. It breaks my heart that one student lost two good friends, this year. I hope that providing a safe place and the resources he needed, helped him through this tough time. Thank you again for supporting high school students' mental health. We were in desperate need of another vinyl floor holder. While it's great to have a variety of colors and textures of vinyl, without the right tools we had vinyl rolls everywhere and needed a solid stand that wouldn't fall over if too much weight was on it. This stand was perfect. We were able to separate our heat transfer vinyl from our adhesive vinyl.
