Our school does not have metal detectors or search students when they enter the building each morning. Clear backpacks are required but many can not afford them so they simply will carry their books without a bag. These clear backpacks help to ensure students are not entering the school without weapons. Drugs and alcohol also impact the learning environment and often goes undetected. The clear backpacks help reduce the possibility of students entering the school with drugs and alcohol which ultimately leads to even more students experimenting with illegal chemicals on school grounds.
