It gives students a nice place to sit when they work together. Students are always asking if they can come sit on the carpet instead of at their desk. It's so soft yet easy to vacuum to keep clean. This has become a favorite place to work and read. With clear markings, students are able to identify \"their spot.\" They feel pride and ownership of having a spot that is just for them. The carpet allows for a nice place for students to sit while I read aloud as well. They love our morning meetings now because they feel like home instead of a hard floor where the \"carpet\" is so thin there aren't any fibers left; it's just a blue hard floor. Thank you so much again.","fullyFundedDate":1741368370062,"projectUrl":"project/we-need-a-place-to-sit/9059590/","projectTitle":"We Need a Place to Sit!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. R.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kelly-richars"},{"teacherId":8270457,"projectId":9521582,"letterContent":"Many of our new books have opened exciting opportunities for students to build their reading skills and grow their love for stories. Through these texts, we've focused on lessons like identifying themes, understanding character motivation, and exploring how authors use descriptive language to bring settings to life. Students are also learning to make inferences, summarize key events, and support their ideas with text evidence—skills that are essential for confident, independent readers.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading looks like engagement, discussion, and discovery. Students read in small groups, participate in guided reading lessons, and share their thoughts during class discussions. We use a variety of strategies—such as reading aloud, partner reading, and journaling—to make the experience interactive and multisensory. It's such a joy to see students leaning into stories and connecting what they read to their own lives.\r\n\r\nSome students who were once hesitant readers are now eagerly reaching for books. One student in particular, who used to avoid independent reading, now proudly carries a chapter book to recess and can't wait to tell me what happens next. Moments like these remind us how powerful the right book can be.
